What is Pharmacy First?
NHS pharmacy first scheme is designed to make healthcare more accessible and efficient for the public. It allows you to get treatment and advice for minor illnesses directly from your local pharmacy, without the need to see a GP. At Batley Pharmacy, we understand the value of your time and well-being, that’s why we are excited to offer this convenient alternative.
This service offers free advice and treatment for seven conditions through local participating pharmacies in England. It aims to alleviate the burden on general practitioners (GPs) and offer timely assistance for common health concerns.
How to access Pharmacy First
If you have any of the seven common illnesses listed, you can avail Pharmacy First Scheme in two ways:
- Visit your local pharmacy for a private consultation with a pharmacist, where you can get medication without needing a prescription from your GP.
- Your GP or healthcare provider can refer you to a participating pharmacy.
During your first consultation, our pharmacist will ask about your illness and recommend the best treatment, including prescriptions for antibiotics or antivirals if needed.
